No practice today (Wed 7 May)
Everyone:
Practice participation was OUTSTANDING yesterday. As cold as the water was, our swimmers were all in and did a great job. Since then, the weather has been against us: cold rain and less than warm air temps make for far less than ideal conditions. It doesn’t do much for getting our athletes back in the water!
When it comes to the weather, we will swim more often than not. We will even swim in the rain (so long as it’s not raining so hard that we can’t see the bottom of the pool - that’s the American Red Cross standard). If there is thunder, and therefore lightning, we will not swim. If we hear thunder during practice, we will take a 30 minute break (that 30 minutes resets each time we hear thunder).
Again, yesterday’s practices were tremendous. We even got some diving practice done at the 6:15 workout! We ask for everyone’s continued patience. We can’t do a lot of “teaching” until the kids have a few days of getting used to the workload. While we didn’t see anyone struggling yesterday, a certain level of fitness is necessary before we get into the details of swimming faster.
Thanks for your support! We’ll look forward to a lot of sunshine over the next couple days and seeing you at the pool!
Go Piranhas!
